Conference/show by and with Clemente Tafuri moderated by Lucrezia Ercolani, followed by the screening of the opera La parte maledetta. Journey to the edge of theatre. Carmelo Bene.
One of the most controversial artists of twentieth-century theatre, Carmelo Bene reveals the tenets of his art, and his unsolvable conflict with the theatre sector and the cultural system. His accursed share concerns the paradox of creation in theatre as in cinema, music, and poetry, that is the inevitable incompleteness of the work of art compared to what can be intuited and experienced beyond literature, language, and representation. The film, through Carmelo Bene’s words alone, delves into the paradox of unrepresentability, evoking the great themes of philosophy (inspired by Schopenhauer, Nietzsche, and Giorgio Colli among others) which enlighten the world of theatre and art more generally.
