A couple, who has just arrived in Turin at the end of the 19th century, tries to adapt to the big city: a new house, new habits, a new community. The husband, Giuseppe, an employee at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, one day stumbles upon the enclosure of six presumed Assabese nobles in the Valentino Park, as part of Italian Great Exposition; here he will be dazzled by the beauty of the African princess. This encounter, constantly supervised by the guardian of the park, will reoccur and destabilise Giuseppe’s relationship with his wife, Elena, so much so that one evening Giuseppe will attempt to kiss the princess, and the whole situation, within the family and within the exhibition, will implode.
