What generates the verbal description of a posture in the body of the person who embodies it? How can a posture (static by definition) generate a dance? And how can that dance become choreography? Which points do the inner forces of the body lean on? What relationship arises among the bodies in action?
Such questions are designed to challenge the certainties of the body in action, to remove its habits, its confidence. A body present at all times, free from imitative canons, a body in action without pre-established models to follow, a body unique in its being on stage. EKPHRASIS or on the fall makes use of ELPโs method of dance transmission, which is based on the removal of the choreographer’s body as a model to be followed and imitated. Removing the model means shunning the ridiculous imitation of movement, it means opposing the hierarchy of power, a power that crushes and annihilates. Seeking the vital force, the disruptive energy is then the aim of the workshop, an energy which is always poised towards a ruinous fall.
